PATRICK McAULIFFE
Director & Account Manager

Patrick has been carrying out public relations and marketing programs for technology-based companies since 1992. Prior to establishing Odyssey Marketing with Eric Fooks in 1998 he was director of another IT–focused marketing communications agency - a role in which he built on his already considerable experience in this dynamic and competitive field.

After graduating from the University of Canberra with a Communications degree in 1989 (majoring in Public Relations and Legal Studies), Patrick came to Sydney where he became Public Relations Manager for a book publishing company. In 1991, after joining a small generalist PR agency, he began servicing his first technology client - Intuit. At that time this market–leading financial software company had only seven staff members. For the next six years - a period during which Intuit grew to 60+ employees Patrick was the main public relations services provider to Intuit.

It was also during this period that Patrick opened his own technology–focused PR agency, Campaign Directions Pty Ltd, which he merged into a larger agency in 1997.

Patrick takes a very hands-on approach to account management at Odyssey. Over several years he has developed strong relationships with a broad range of editors and journalists including, of course, many in the technology press. This network of press contacts is a valuable asset when it comes to gaining maximum editorial exposure for our clients.

As an occasional diversion Patrick writes feature articles on technology issues for trade publications.

Since specialising in PR for the IT industry Patrick has carried out public relations programs for all types of technology companies and has developed a well-earned reputation for industriousness, integrity and commitment to client service.

ERIC FOOKS
Director & Account Manager

Eric provides strategic marketing counsel to Odyssey's clients while also fulfilling the role of Account Manager for all our Event Management and Design & Production projects. Before forming Odyssey Marketing with Patrick McAuliffe in 1998, Eric was Account Director and part-owner of another Sydney-based marketing communications firm specialising in the IT industry.

In that role Eric advised clients on marketing strategies - in particular with regard to direct marketing, lead generation and channel marketing - while gaining invaluable experience in the management of all types of IT industry events including seminars, trade shows and conferences.

Eric's background in design and production goes back to the earliest stage of his career when he occupied the role of typographer.

Building on his wealth of experience in all facets of graphic design and print production, Eric subsequently started his own publishing company.

Eric later turned to consulting, responding to the growing need for expertise in the design, production and marketing of promotional materials for information technology companies.

In his present role of Director and Account Manager with Odyssey Marketing, Eric continues to apply his specialist skills to meeting the design and production (and the event management) needs of clients.

ANGIE CURSLEY

Every working day Angie applies her well-developed media relations skills to ensure that Odyssey's clients receive the press coverage they deserve. Recognising that competition for editorial space is incredibly fierce, Angie proactively seeks out opportunities where our clients can gain media exposure and then pursues such opportunities with determination and vigour.

Prior to joining Odyssey Angie was a member of the MYOB Australia in-house marketing team. During her time with MYOB she played a key role in the development and implementation of a PR & marketing program aimed at positioning MYOB as Australia's leading provider business management software.

While at MYOB Angie also found the time to get involved in event management, sponsorship and the drafting of customer case studies.

Angie is a graduate of the University of Canberra's Bachelor of Communications degree course where she specialised in Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising.

As an Account Executive with drive, initiative and a solid understanding of the marketing and public relations needs of technology-based organisations, Angie can be counted on to produce outstanding results for Odyssey's clients.
