PATRICK McAULIFFE
Director & Account Manager
|
 |
|
|
Patrick has been carrying
out public relations and marketing programs
for technology-based companies since 1992. Prior
to establishing Odyssey Marketing with Eric
Fooks in 1998 he was director of another ITfocused
marketing communications agency - a role in
which he built on his already considerable experience
in this dynamic and competitive field.
After graduating from the
University of Canberra with a Communications
degree in 1989 (majoring in Public Relations
and Legal Studies), Patrick came to Sydney where
he became Public Relations Manager for a book
publishing company. In 1991, after joining a
small generalist PR agency, he began servicing
his first technology client - Intuit. At that
time this marketleading financial software
company had only seven staff members. For the
next six years - a period during which Intuit
grew to 60+ employees Patrick was the main public
relations services provider to Intuit.
|
|
It was also during this period
that Patrick opened his own technologyfocused
PR agency, Campaign Directions Pty Ltd, which
he merged into a larger agency in 1997.
Patrick takes a very hands-on
approach to account management at Odyssey. Over
several years he has developed strong relationships
with a broad range of editors and journalists
including, of course, many in the technology
press. This network of press contacts is a valuable
asset when it comes to gaining maximum editorial
exposure for our clients.
As an occasional diversion
Patrick writes feature articles on technology
issues for trade publications.
Since specialising in PR for
the IT industry Patrick has carried out public
relations programs for all types of technology
companies and has developed a well-earned reputation
for industriousness, integrity and commitment
to client service.

ERIC FOOKS
Director & Account Manager
| |
|
|
Eric provides strategic marketing
counsel to Odyssey's clients while also fulfilling
the role of Account Manager for all our Event
Management and Design & Production projects.
Before forming Odyssey Marketing with Patrick
McAuliffe in 1998, Eric was Account Director
and part-owner of another Sydney-based marketing
communications firm specialising in the IT industry.
In that role Eric advised
clients on marketing strategies - in particular
with regard to direct marketing, lead generation
and channel marketing - while gaining invaluable
experience in the management of all types of
IT industry events including seminars, trade
shows and conferences.
Eric's background in design
and production goes back to the earliest stage
of his career when he occupied the role of typographer.
|
|
Building on his wealth of
experience in all facets of graphic design and
print production, Eric subsequently started
his own publishing company.
Eric later turned to consulting,
responding to the growing need for expertise
in the design, production and marketing of promotional
materials for information technology companies.
In his present role of Director
and Account Manager with Odyssey Marketing,
Eric continues to apply his specialist skills
to meeting the design and production (and the
event management) needs of clients.
